Formed in 1978, the Conneaut Human Resources Center is a nonprofit corporation operated by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by an Executive Director.
In 1985, through the funds that were granted by the Civic Development Corporation of Ashtabula County, the Conneaut Human Resources Center was able to move its operations from a home on Broad Street to a facility that was formerly a grocery store. This 20,000 square foot location on Mill Street is home to programs, agencies & organizations that are designed to help improve the quality of life.
The Conneaut Human Resources Center is dedicated to making human social services more available to the community by defining needs and providing programs and access to information to the over 2,000 individuals who utilize our facility each month.
The Conneaut Human Resources Center and its partner agencies provide basic human services in a wide variety of critical areas all under one roof for individuals of all ages. Our Food Pantry, Seniors Together, Right Track, Information and referral programs, as well as our partnering agencies, strive to provide assistance and hope for those in need. The Conneaut Human Resources Center is truly the one stop center for the human services within our community.

During the month of May, the CHRC is collaborating with the Trillium Center on a survey that will help improve services and educational programs in Conneaut. The Trillium Center is a non-profit project that offers free and lo-cost education at BLD farm in Conneaut. The survey is available online at:

Appointments are made for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the hours of 8:30am and 1:30pm. You can call to schedule an appointment at 593-5273 ext. 2, preferably on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am to 1:30pm. You are allowed 1 appointment each month.
For EACH & EVERY appointment, you MUST have CURRENT proof of residence. This can be your current gas, electric, water or telephone bill. Medicaid cards are accepted ONLY if entire page with address is attached. You must also bring your photo ID.
We provide 3 days worth of food, 3 meals per day, determined by the size of the family.
The program serves 300 - 400 people each month. These numbers include families with children, senior citizens and single individuals. The service area includes Conneaut, Kingsville, N. Kingsville, Monroe, Pierpont and Sheffield.
Other programs under the Food Pantry include: Dairy Voucher Program, Crock Pot Ministry & Emergency Assistance.
Funded in part by United Way, local churches, area businesses, private donations and fundraisers.

HALO Coordinator (Conneaut area) - Renea Roach, Food Pantry Director
This is a special outreach program coordinated by Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County as a collaborative effort among several Ashtabula County agencies and individuals, including Community Action, Head Start, Salvation Army, Ashtabula Senior Center, The Star Beacon, Leadership Ashtabula County, Conneaut Human Resources Center and Jefferson Coordinators Jack & Mary Howe.
The purpose of HALO is to assist the needy during the holiday season by providing food and toys.
Eligibility is based upon income status and need. Individuals and families who fall at or below 133% of the federal poverty guidelines will qualify for assistance.
There are three ways to help HALO: Adopt a family, donate, or volunteer.

The Free Fresh Produce program is a special outreach program coordinated by the Cleveland Food Bank and the Conneaut Human Resources Center providing fresh produce, breads, and other items to the local community and surrounding areas. All individuals must sign a self-declaration form to receive food. This program is held at the Conneaut Human Resources Center on the 1st Monday each month, unless otherwise posted.

The Senior Center provides an excellent opportunity for socialization in a variety of programs and activities. They are a gathering place for area seniors 55+ who offer a diverse mix of backgrounds and culture. Some activities include BINGO, crafts, picnic outings, birthday celebrations, specialty speakers and much, much more.
They also have senior meals at 11:30. They must have at least two days notice so that they can be sure to have enough for everyone.
PAS Director -
Prescription Assistance for Seniors (PAS) is for seniors 60+ with no prescription coverage. Medicare part D assistance is available, and prescription assistance may be available to seniors who have reached the Medicare part D gap.
Right Track Director - Tammy Ledford
The Right Track Program follows a basic schedule that includes physical activity, snacks, homework help, discussion and craft or cooperative game time.
Physical time allows children time to explore sportsmanship through team play while increasing endurance and strength.
During homework time, lessons are reviewed through one on one and small group instruction with the aide of volunteers.
The program's ever growing, sharing library allows literature to be available.
Anger management, conflict resolution and like skills are developed through cooperative games, role play and discussion.
Other issues explored include diversity, respect, tolerance and how to build friendships.
Music, creative arts and guest speakers are used to enhance the children's experiences as a springboard to quality education.

The First Step Program is generally at the Center on the 3rd Monday each month during WIC. You must call to make an appointment. You can contact Jennifer Leonard at 440-992-2121.
The First Step Program at Catholic Charities can help in both simple and compound ways. We provide resources, referrals, and motivation. Our program provides an assessment of your needs, and ways in which you may begin to meet them. We can offer diapers, formula, and clothing. Through case management, our program is committed to establishing short and long term goals and to provide you with resources, referrals, and encouragement to help meet them. First Step provides assistance in many areas from assistance with applications for health care, food stamps, and childcare expenses to referrals to employment resources and education opportunities.
The first step parents can take if they are in need is to call the First Step Program at Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County. We will help these families with their immediate needs, and help direct them to follow a path that will lead towards self sufficiency.
Utility help is available every Tuesday, starting in February 2013, at CHRC from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm by appointment. You must bring with you proof of residence, proof of income, and the utility bills that you need help with.

We can help you apply for SNAP (food stamps), medical, utility, child care, WIC, and other assistance programs. CHRC counselors can walk you through the eligibility and application process. The information is confidential.

Summer Lunch Program for kids is for children age 1 to 18. They serve breakfast at 9:00am and lunch at 12:00pm. The children's lunch program is ran by the Ashtabula County Children Services Board.
